If you’re reading this, chances are that you’re just as confused as we are as to why Tabby is so popular all of a sudden. In this Animal Crossing: New Horizons Tabby Villager Guide we’re going to cover everything there is to know about her.
Tabby’s defining characteristic is her face, and if you don’t think that’s true then you must be lying to yourself. She’s often been called one of the ugliest Villagers in the game, which isn’t fair given that all Villagers are beautiful in their own special way.
Who is Tabby?
Tabby is a peppy cat Villager. She’s appeared in ever Animal Crossing game to date, and has a pretty simple name. She’s called Tabby, because she’s a tabby cat. That’s it. There’s no hidden lore behind this one unfortunately.
I’m not sure what the developers were thinking when they decided to name Tabby after the tabby cat. I live in the UK, and tabby cats are generally considered to be dark brown, mottled with light brown in swirling patterns. I’d say that Tabby is definitely more of a ginger cat, but this is ultimately something that’s been written into Animal Crossing lore. However, her French and Japanese names allude to her look. They are closer to the word tiger, which would make sense, because Tabby definitely looks like one.
Birthday
Tabby’s birthday is August 13. On this day you should head over to her house and spend as much time there as you can. Continuously pop in to visit her, because it’ll help build up your relationship. You may also get a few items out of doing this, which is always useful.
Tabby’s Personality
Tabby is generally always in a good mood because she’s peppy. She’s also a lot easier to become friends with than other Villagers, so count yourself lucky if you have her on your island. While she has the tendency to overreact in conversations, don’t worry, it’s all part of who she is.
She likes other peppy Villagers, and won’t be easily discouraged. She dreams of one day becoming famous, as do all peppy Villagers, which might get annoying after a while. If you have an argument with her, it’ll soon be forgotten. She has a short attention span, so doesn’t really have the capacity to hold a grudge if you say something she doesn’t like.
You’ll find that Tabby gets on well with sisterly, jock, lazy, and normal Villagers, as well as others who are peppy. She’s going to annoy any cranky Villagers you have on your island, as well as snooty Villagers.
Tabby’s House
I think that Tabby’s house is one of the nicest in the game that we’ve covered so far. From the outside, it looks really normal, nothing out of the ordinary. However it is definitely nicer than most other houses you’ll see other Villagers build. It has an orange and black exterior, and looks much more like an old house you’d find in an old English town.
Internally, Tabby’s House is a bit of a dungeon. I don’t mean that in a weird way, unless you think tiger print carpets are weird. Outside of that though, everything is well laid out, and Tabby actually appears to be more of a book enthusiast. She has a very nice bookcase, and a laptop for looking up anything she doesn’t know. I think it’s probably my favourite interior in the game.
That’s all for our Animal Crossing: New Horizons Tabby Villager Guide. Let us know if there’s something we missed that you think should be included in this guide in the comments.
